Beautiful Science with Shimmer Soap

We received our scientific explorer kit in the mail the day before our "science home school day".  What a treat! Designed for girls 8+, the Shimmer Soap kit is science made beautiful. My girls are ages 5 & 7 so we invited our 11 year old neighbor over to have fun and help us with our Scientific Explorer Spa Kit.

In our kit, we found everything we needed to make our own shimmer soap from scratch. The girls also  learned some really cool science about matter. The directions give step by step instructions and questions to ask your little science student about "matter".

Are the soap crystals liquid, solid or gas? When we melt the soap crystals what do they become? What caused the solid to become liquid? My 5 year old was answering the questions too! Again, another great project for the whole family (and neighbors) to do. The kits are small. We were able to make four little shimmery soap pieces. Just enough for each of my " science explorers " to take one home!

Fun facts and details:

This experiment took only about 15 minutes to complete.

Fun for any age but older kids need to handle the hot, melted soap crystals.

Great birthday gift.

Would I purchase this item in the future? Yes, and the other science spa kits found here

Moon Dough ~a review

Moon Dough for ages (2-4) really? My (5-7 age) little girls LOVED it! Yes, it is perfect for little hands but a tactile delight for any age! It is soft marshmallow -like, and  hypo allergenic, wheat free and never dries up! My seven year old gave it a thumbs up. She loves playing with her little sister and got a kick out of the shape making machine aka barn.

Just place the moon dough in the top of the barn and turn the wheel. Out pops little farm animals. We even invited out 11 year old neighbor over and she loved it. These big girls made quit a mess but it is an easy clean up.

What we loved:

  • fun for the whole family. Great for home school families where big brother or sister can play and have fun with their younger siblings!
  • does not stick to hands.
  • easy clean up. Sweeps up nicely!

little inconveniences:

  • all though it cleans up easily, it is messy. I would suggest laying down a mat our have kids play outside. We just swept it up quickly when we where outside but inside was a bit more of a chore.

My little Sophie thought it was the best thing ever. Thanks Team Mom!

We love that is is made by SpinMaster ( toys made in the USA)

Find Moon Dough at all your favorite stores including Target.

Shox Scooter- a review

Shox Scooter...extreme goodness

My girls just love that I review for Team Mom. We get goodies in the mail monthly. Thank you Team Mom for sending quality items we can enjoy. As I've said before, I don't review for the sake of reviewing and getting stuff. We truly love to inform you about companies who manufacturer in the USA and or practicing fair trade!

Extreme sports is a term I'm familiar with. We have friends and neighbors who have enjoyed success in the extreme sports world...but how do you get from street sports to extreme sports? How does a child interested in doing “jumps” really learn without hurting themselves? They need safe equipment. I love the fact that now, the neighborhood kids can learn some extreme moves with safety in mind.

The Shox Scooter is a moms dream. The Shox Scooter is built with a new, innovative spring shock deck that not only absorbs impact when landing jumps and stunts, but also springs back to increases the rider's power. The deck's rough grip surface provides foot control and traction while performing tricks. The back break offers control and safety while riding!

Why should you buy it?

  • Made for age 5+. Safe for your little “extreme sport enthusiast”

  • The Shox Scooter is made with lightweight aluminum, designed to increase speed and make traveling easier.

  • The Shox Scooter retails for $59.99

  • Located in NJ USA – practicing fair trade.

Pop On Pals: Toddler entertainment

Little hands enjoy these simple, creative, cuddly characters. Spin Master created Pop On Pals offering endless mix n’ match fun, little ones can be anything they want to be. A fireman can become a musician, a princess becomes a baker, a puppy becomes a ballerina – Pop On Pals encourages imaginative play and helps develop fine motor skills.

We invited our neighbor over to play at the "amusement park". He loved poppin' on the little doll that came with the set. The only down fall that I can see is that this set only comes with one doll. Who likes to go to an amusement park alone? Pop On Pals reminds me a bit of "little people" but easier to attach and they stay on without falling off easily!

I would say that this toy was toddler approved!

Donna partners with Team Mom to review products made in the USA or practicing fair trade. It's important to know what companies in the mainstream market place fit our high standards. At Blessed Nestwe work hard to provide you with the best and we enjoy telling you about other companies who are doing the same!
