The I Love Lucy Project

I first heard of The I Love Lucy Project, here. The I Love Lucy project is described below....one lovely little girl

and a Mom with a mission. Read their story. theilovelucyproject

The I Love Lucy blog has been set up by Linda Eyre and her daughter Shawni to fight against blindness on behalf of Shawni's daughter Lucy. Lucy, who is three-years-old, was diagnosed last year with Bardet-Biedl Syndrome which causes blindness, obesity, and a wide array of other health issues.

We are on a race against time to fight against "retinitis pigmentosa," the type of retinal degeneration that will most likely affect Lucy's eyesight between ages 9-15. We are hoping that before the degeneration becomes more dramatic, the cures that wonderful foundations are working toward finding will come to fruition.

But these foundations need money in order to speed on their research. We hope this blog will be an avenue to create awareness and raise funds to help Lucy and others who suffer from this debilitating disease.

Help Haiti.....

We received this note in our in box today. It's from Charity:Water...I think they would be OK with us putting it here... they are wonderful. Thank you Charity:Water for the below resources; for helping the people of Haiti after their 7.0 earthquake....

Two ways to help Haiti.

We've all heard the devastating news -- Haiti was struck this week by one of its worst natural disasters in the last 200 years.

A 7.0-magnitude earthquake shocked Port-au-Prince and surrounding areas on Tuesday just before 5 p.m., collapsing buildings and cutting water and electricity services. At least 3 million people have been affected.

charity: water is not a disaster relief organization. However, our implementing field partners in Haiti are.

Today, we're asking that you contribute straight to their relief efforts, which include more than just water. A donation to Partners in Health and/or Concern Worldwide will provide emergency medical care, food, shelter, medicine, blankets and clean drinking water to those suffering from the quake's destruction.

HappyBaby needs you to vote! RUN

Run, don't walk..vote for HappyBaby! Why, just do it, no time to re-write a post...read below. This company, friends of our idols at YoBaby are in a contest to win 100,000! They are neck in neck with another to win so they need your votes. We need to stick together......we have a world to change, one small business at a time!

Run on over after you read their story below ...http://www.nbc.com/shinealight

Only 7 days left!

you have to register but don't let that scare you, it only takes seconds! Go Happy Baby! We are cheering for you!

HAPPYBABY is one of three small businesses competing for $100,000 as part of the Shine a Light contest, run by American Express and NBC Universal. You can vote through October 16th for the small business finalist that most inspires you -- just visit http://www.nbc.com/shinealight.

The three finalists are HAPPYBABY (Brooklyn, NY), Beacon Paint & Hardware (New York, N.Y.), and Sacred Wind Communications, Inc. (Albuquerque, N.M.). They were chosen from more than 4,000 small businesses nominated from across the country for the program, which aims to showcase inspirational small businesses and the role they play in driving the economy. The program invited the public to nominate small business stories based on innovation, community spirit and customer service. The three finalists were ultimately selected with the help of show host and entrepreneur Ellen DeGeneres, fashion designer and entrepreneur Diane von Furstenberg, and MSNBC's small business expert and host JJ Ramberg.

HAPPYBABY pioneered a new movement in baby food with a line of sustainable organic home-style meals as an alternative to the processed jarred foods that had not been improved since the 1930's. The business is the brainchild of a social entrepreneur who wanted to provide our children with the best start to instill eating habits for a healthy happy life, and simultaneously provide basic nutritional needs for less fortunate children simply trying to survive.

So cast your HAPPY vote!

More On Charity...Dream your dream

Keep dreaming your dream not matter what "they"say! Who are they? Well, they are just about anyone who is afraid to dream. They are people with loud voices who want you to be afraid to dream. Last week we mentioned that The September campaign is here. We showed a video where the founder of Charity: Water asked you to join in the campaign and to get creative in raising money for this great cause! Then, he sent out another newsletter stating again to join him in his extravagant dream of reaching 1 Million dollars to help bring clean water to Africa. He asked you to give $34.00 to Charity: Water.org.

What made my heart heavy in this newsletter was this statement by the founder of Charity :Water~

"Non-profits like ours that are addressing enormous problems (a billion people without clean water) are told to make sure we don't scare people off by communicating how big the whole problem is"

Author Seth Godin recently wrote that the problem with enormity in marketing is that it doesn't work. He said "Enormity should pull at our heartstrings, but it usually shuts us down. Show us too many sick kids, unfair imprisonments or burned bodies, and you won't get a bigger donation, you'll just get averted eyes."

Scott goes on to say....   "While all this may be true, it just seems rather boring. Visionless. I believe people want to sign up for something bigger than just one. I did.

There's a proverb in the Bible that says, "Where there is no vision, the people perish." People are certainly dying all around us, but could that be because we're terrified to tackle the enormous? Because we don't have the faith to see the entire problem solved?

I can't quite see to a billion people yet, but I'm getting closer. Your generosity has helped us do that. In only three years, 60,000 people around the world have donated $11 million. That means 750,000 lives will change. 750,000 people will get clean water to drink.

So in the spirit of solving enormous problems,
we want to step it up this September, and serve our first million people. Then keep going until every single person on the planet has clean and safe drinking water."

                                                                                             Scott Harrison, founder Charity :Water.org

I posted most of his newsletter here because it is so profound. Charity :Water.org is such a great example of dreaming, looking at the big, enormous picture and acting on it. I want in. I want to dream and I love that he has included all of us to dream along with him!

For the remainder of this year we are teaming up with The Riley Project. This little girl and her family are looking the enormous straight in the eye and not slowing down.

Isn't raising 5,000.00 an enormous amount of money for a 7 year old little girl ? She is not afraid to look at this enormous problem ~ 1 Billion people are without clean drinking water....why are we afraid?

Why are marketing people moved by fear?....this is another post in itself. There are about 4 marketing firms that I respect...they will get shout outs this week... what draws me to each and every one of these marketing groups is that they encourage you to dream and dream big and they do not come from fear!

Join us in our journey:

purchase a Riley Rain Drop ( our Aqua organic Nest Egg for only $39.00) regular price $42.00.

$30.00 from your purchase will be donated to The Riley Project ~A little girl raising $5,000.00 for  Charilty:Water.org
