Nesting

This morning I'm with my daughter, taking her first SAT tests. I'll be helping out in our home school groups second grade class while she'll be with another mom taking her first grade tests. She is super excited and I'm nervous..go figure. I'll be back tomorrow with a wonderful post from Intergrative Mom!

Until then, happy nesting with your baby. Before you know it she'll be 7 and taking state school SAT tests......where does the time go? Really!

Use the coupon code "nesting" on our web site Blessed Nest.com for 10% off your Nesting purchase.

What can't you handle?

We get e-mails from moms often expressing their difficulties with parenting. You know, the everyday stuff we all have to deal with as a mom but often feel alone in the struggle of it all.

I home school- You know I love it. I've shared the crafts we've done and the fun I've had teaching my daughter how to read....but have I told you that I wonder at times, if we should put her in school?  *Gasp I know! I often feel less then? *Wow, really? Yes!  The moments are fleeting. I know homeschooling is best for our family and 90% of the time, I see the joy in it. But why is it that the 10% - the hard times, seem to out way the 90% of pure joy? Isn't that true of parenting? Marriage? We sometimes are so hard on ourselves that we only see the 10% and forget to focus on looking down the 90% road. I find reading blogs helps. Well, accept when I come across a home school blog where the mom seems perfect, then I get discouraged. Then again, I know no one is perfect.

But today I laughed. I was spending a nice moment reading the morning paper facebook and blog posts when I remembered Ree. We all know her, we all love her. If you don't know her, well jump on over. Your life will be changed forever....and you might even want to live on a Ranch....*sigh I DO!

So back at my ranch. I'm reading the morning paper posts while sipping from my life line cup of coffee; when all of a sudden, a bug landed on me. I jumped. My coffee spilled all over the floor. The entire cup!

Today....I can't handle my COFFEE.

Did you visit Ree's place, The Pioneer Women? She gives us a cathartic-exercise, go get yourself some parenting tools, pioneer style.

You see, she is a home school mom, she is a mom. She struggles. She laughs.

What can't you handle today? Laugh about it and then focus on the 90%  of pure joy!

disclaimer...ha Our readers have a great sense of humor so I'm not thinking you will take Ree too seriously about her "hollering" .... But if you're new around these parts well, please be kind to yourself and laugh a little! ahh...smile *

D is for dandelions ~ in the classroom

We're having so much fun this year at the Wirth Family school house. My "baby bird" ( age 4) is finally eager to learn and my "little bird" (age 6) is her little teacher. Tabitha entered the first grade and is a busy bee with all of her first grade work but she loves to join in on Sophie's class time too!

Last week we looked at the letter D....... I let Sophie pick the letter each week and then build a unit study around it. Her animal choice was Dolphin. School is fun for Momma too!

This was our craft for dandelion....it was really fun and even though they don't resemble dandelions too much we had a great conversion while making them about the process, growth and where the seeds go when you blow.....

Our little friendTomorrow our friends will be joining us at school for a study on Corduroy the bear, the book , the classical little gem.

Greening Up the neighborhood

Blissfully Domestic sometimes means picking up the trash! Wearing work gloves, of course.

Last Month was Earth Day and to tell you the truth we didn't do much different then we do everyday. Last year we did make an extra effort to teach Tabitha ( my now 6 year old) a bit about why it's important to take care of our planet Earth. We have stepped it up a bit this past year and have done even more in our daily routine to cut back on waste. So, Earth Day is everyday at the Nest.

One weekly routine that the girls and I do is clean up our park. We have a wonderful park just across the street, within walking distance. We have noticed all of the trash in and around this lovely park. Now, at first glance you would not notice the trash. It's a large park. But I tell you, when we walked around picking up trash for 1/2 hour; we easily filled up 4 grocery store trash bags. This is a glimpse of what we picked up. It all went into the recycle. Yes, these are bags that I have collected when I have rushed  out the door and forget my canvas totes. (I'm lucky if I remember the kids) kidding.

I try!

What is in your daily routine that helps save on waste? Tabitha, trash collector

How can you help your community green it up this year?
