Interview with Messy Fun Mommy life

I am so excited to bring you an interview with one of our blog writters; Cassie from Messy Fun Mommy Life!

1 1) You are a multi talented Momma!Tell us a little about your college days and the careers you have pursued.

What all are you hoping to accomplish in the career arena? (I know whatever it is you will succeed)

When I started college I was three months pregnant and only eighteen years old. Many people had doubts that I would stick to it and better yet that I would succeed. I made it work! The semester I gave birth I was enrolled in fifteen credit hours of online courses and finished with a pretty high G.P.A. When I started college I had the goal most young college students no longer have. I was going to go to college and get a job. Somewhere along the way I fell in love with learning and changed my major to philosophy. I love reading about the world and he way people work and think. I would love to one day get my doctorate in philosophy and become a professor. I have learned to take it a step at a time and deal with what is coming at me first. If you look at the big picture it is a long road but taking it day by day makes it a bit easier. I also discovered how much I love staying home with my little man which is why I started my virtual assistant business. I hope this can grow into something that I could do from home and one day teach other young mothers about balance and the importance of education!

2) You work at home and outside of your home as well. I know that being a work at home mom & a work out side of the home mom has its joys as well as its challenges.

What is the favorite part of your day?

I love mornings, which drives people crazy. Something about getting a hot cup of coffee and sitting down with my boy and checking my emails and catching up with my favorite bloggers; It’s a moment where all the parts of my life come together.

What is the most challenging part of the day?

I would say late afternoon. Aiden gets a little irritated especially if I have a lot of stuff that I am working on that day. He gets whiney and I get impatient. I am getting better at it!

3) You’re an encouragement to all but especially to other single Moms. Do you see that your life is an encouragement?

I have seen a lot of single mothers struggle to make ends meet and a lot of single moms go down roads I am happy I never had to. I hope to be an encouragement. There is a standard out there which defines the "right" way to start a family and a lot of single mothers feel there way isn't the right way. It may be non-traditional but I feel like families with a single parent can be just as rewarding and loving. It may be a challenge at times but coming to the realization that you are ok and you are going to be ok is a big step.

4) You’re a blog mom too. What inspired you to start writing? What inspires you to continue?

The first blog I ever came across was adventures in baby wearing. I loved Stephs honesty and the fact that I could read about other moms who had the same concerns and worries as me. I have had a long road getting to where I am now. If I can make even one mom realize how precious and unique she is; my job as a blogger is done!

a dream, a journey

Today’s post is written by Cassie at Messy Fun Mommy Life. Cassie is a young, single mom whom I deeply admire. It’s so much fun to read about her journey as a mom in business. I too began my entrepreneurial journey when I was 21. I opened my first business at age 21 and haven’t looked back. I encourage all to peruse their dreams. Cassie has the dream of working at home as she raises her son. We know she will achieve her dream.

Thank you Cassie for teaming up with Blessed Nest....xo, Donna

Let me just tell you I am an entrepreneur.  I have tried every business model out there.  If I have not tried it, I have at least researched it! Now, I am not one of those ridiculous crazy women.  You know the women who sign up to sell everything. They buy the kit and never sell a thing? No, I am not THAT crazy.

I have sold Avon on and off since I was sixteen.  For the record I was dang good at it. I would walk up and down the hallway in our high-school with a bag full of brochures.  I sold more than you would think in those hallways. The big kicker was that I LOVED selling Avon.  Getting my order in was like Christmas day.  Reading the representative times gave me a high.  I even got to the point that I knew the price and pretty dang close to the page number of every item.  Mind you the books change every two weeks.  I was GOOD.

Anyways, somewhere between delivering orders with a baby on my hip and being too tired to remember to place orders I quit.   Quitting is easy; you have no obligation.  I did not feel it necessary to let my customers know that I was quitting.  You can see where this is going I am sure!

Well, I am back! Yes, selling Avon again and begging my old customers to please forgive me.  The economy is bad and anyone who loves selling anything I suggest Avon.  The company is well known and they basically have everything!

Since I’m showing my good business skills I have to attach my website.  Check it out if you want. If you every have any questions about directs sales of any kind.  I am the expert. I would be happy to help!

Beginning Stages

Today's post written by Cassie at Messy Fun Mommy Life

Join Cassie here on the perch monthly as she takes us on her journey of opening a new business and working from home.

Why did I decide to start a business from home? Did I just wake up one day and think I am going to start a marketing business? My mother sure thinks so. Starting a business was a pretty impulsive decision I will admit. I am known for being impulsive which is why my actions are usually quick and sometimes scare people. Working from home had always been a dream of mine; A dream that seemed out of reach. This journey of starting my own business has been one of the most terrifying journeys of my life.

I began my journey at Guru. I signed up, posted my profile and began sending proposals. I received my first job and was so excited. I will be honest I hated it. It was one of the most boring time consuming jobs I had ever completed. I completed it on time and on budget. It wasn’t until I received my first check that what I had done hit me. I had earned the same amount of money I earn working outside of the home with my son sitting next to me. I was hooked.

I had wanted to start my own company from the beginning. I did not want to find jobs through another site but I was terrified. What if I started a company and it failed? How do you even start a company? I was toying with the idea for a few weeks when I came across a podcast. The Barefoot Executive explained that toying with idea made it a hobby but announcing it made it a business. That very day I typed a blog announcing the start of my business. I was so anxious about posting that blog I almost got sick.

I am still in the beginning stages of my business. I’m hoping to use this monthly column to let you walk with me in this journey. I am currently hosting a contest at my website to name my business. I am looking forward to reading all of the entries!

Name her business and you win a Target gift card or some Mabel's Labels!
