Thankful November~ Meet Autumn Rae~ a giveaway

Thankful November...... Heather and I are taking the month of November to honor the special women in our lives. Women in business who have blessed us. Some are new friends. A few, we have known for many years..... today's amazing momma who we are thankful for is Autumn Rae, Heather's dear friend whom I have had the pleasure of getting to know through FaceBook and e-mails.

Meet Autumn....This is such a fun interview! Enjoy!

<Donna> 1. You are the owner/designer of Autumn Rae Art. Do you see yourself as having a natural talent or did you have training in the arts? (or maybe both)

<Autumn> Hmmm. Natural talent is such a tricky force to be reckoned with! While I don't have training as a painter or a jewelry designer, I see myself more as a person who puts their head down and just works at it. I had been a portrait artist before I was a painter, and I can tell you that my first paintings were rather...well...interesting, to say the least! I have acting and dance training, and maybe the discipline it took in those fields has influenced my art. I do tend to get lots of inspiration at a time--it's feast or famine. So I make sure to have a notebook nearby to capture all my ideas. My only problem now is that I have a ton of notebooks filled with scribbles!

<Donna> 2. You are a busy, talented momma. What inspires you to get through the tough days?

<Autumn> Wow! Great question! I can definitely attest to the fact that having a toddler and trying to be Martha Stewart at the same time is one challenge that I'm not going to win. :-) I try to be gracious with myself by knowing that there are limits to what I can do in a day, and that's okay. And my daughter is only this tender age once, so I'd better try to love each day to the fullest. Now, grasshopper, if I could only practice what I preach...

<Donna>3. Your artwork is beautiful and inspirational. Who is the girl in most of your paintings? She is wonderful!

<Autumn> Thank you! Well, if you talked with my mother she would say that the girl is me--which is embarrassing! I'm not sure if she's me or not, but I do feel that an artist definitely puts themselves into their work. The funny thing is that she is the only face that "comes out" when I paint. Believe me, I've tried other faces, and she still appears. It's a good thing that I like her because she's not going anywhere! I do feel now, though, that when people see her face they can recognize her as an "Autumn Rae Art" painting!

<Donna> 4. Where can be buy your artwork?

<Autumn> Etsy! Etsy! Etsy!!! I started listing in my Etsy shop at the end of the summer, and I have loved the experience. I feel like I'm finally viewing my art as a business, and I must admit that I like the biz side of it! I sell original paintings, art prints, and textile jewelry--my latest venture--in my shop. Autumn has donated one of her lovely art pieces for giveaway here on our perch!

Little Red Riding Hood is a lovely 8 inch x 16 inch print of my original painting, "Strength." You can see the texture of the original painting in this high-quality print. I collaged decorative and vintage papers onto the original painting, and snippets of script from "Little Red Riding Hood" subtly decorate the background. This reproduction is printed on 80lb. 11 inch x 17 inch white matte paper. I have signed and numbered the front of the print. Oh--the watermark is not on the print!

This print will add a whimsical touch to any room, and it is ready to be framed!

Your print will be protected by cardboard insulation and shipped in a waterproof, padded mailer, directly from my studio to you!

We are so thankful for many things in our lives but as we reflect, we have decided to celebrate the women we are thankful for; the women who have made us who we are today by helping to mold our characters and giving us unconditional love. I can say that of Heather and so many others.

Thankful November.
